hello. I’m a Korean man who lives in Korea and loves ramen. Well, almost all Koreans love ramen ^^
I’ve been thinking about why people around the world love Korean ramen. First of all, I thought it’s because it’s a cheap meal and it tastes good.
Currently, the price of Shin Ramyun in Korea is about 3,900 won for a pack of 5 packets. That’s a little less than 800 won per packet, and I wonder if there’s anything else you can eat for less than 1,000 won in this era of high prices.
So, starting today, I’m going to introduce you to a variety of Korean ramen noodles, along with the best recipes to make them delicious.
So, let’s get started with a recipe for a spicy bowl of Korean ramen.
Today’s Ramen – Shin Ramen
Today’s ramen is Shin Ramen, made by Nongshim, a leading Korean ramen company. Shin Ramyun is a favorite ramen noodle among Koreans, and even if you don’t add anything to it, you can still taste the spicy and bold flavor.
Spicy Shin Ramen, which reads “spicy god” in kanji on the ramen bag, is today’s ramen.
Ramen Ingredients
Today we’ll be cooking ramen in a traditional Korean bowl called a tteokbaegi, which is a popular bowl in Korea because it can be eaten hot.
To make spicy ramen, we’ll use green onions, eggs, and cheongyang chili peppers.
If you don’t have access to cheongyang chili peppers, you can use any spicy chili peppers that have a similar flavor.
For the egg, we recommend leaving it out if you like a clear soup, but most Koreans prefer to eat it with it.
Spicy Korean Ramen Recipe
Shin Ramen is delicious plain, but the above ingredients make it even spicier and more flavorful.
So let’s write down the recipe for Korean ramen.
Cut the green onions and chili peppers into small pieces before adding them to the ramen.
Tips for making firm noodles
Everyone’s different, but Korean ramen tastes better with bouncy noodles.
The key is to leave the noodles as they are when you add the ingredients, and avoid stirring the noodles with chopsticks as much as possible to keep them bouncy.
Turn off the heat 20 seconds after adding the last ingredient, the egg, and eat immediately to enjoy the most bouncy Korean ramen noodles.
1. Add 500ml of water to the pot and boil the water until it boils
2. Add the ramen soup to the boiling water along with the gundergisp
3. Boil the ramen soup for about 1 minute (the process of thickening the soup)
4. Add the ramen noodles
5. After about 1 minute, add the green onions
6. 20 seconds later, add the chili peppers
7. 20 seconds later, add the egg
8. Turn off the heat after about 30 seconds
In Korea, kimchi is eaten with ramen. Kimchi is one of the best side dishes to pair with ramen, as it cuts through some of the richness of the ramen.
Also, it is recommended to roll the cold rice in the soup after finishing the ramen to make it even more delicious.
Today, we’ve shared a spicy recipe for Nongshim Shin Ramyun, one of the most basic and favorite Korean ramen noodles.
Depending on your preference, you can add more pepper or red pepper flakes.
We hope you enjoy this delicious Korean ramen, and next time, we’ll share a recipe for Samyang Ramyun’s Buldakbokkeum noodles.
